Ruched Rosette Tutorial

Take a look at this precious rosette!
Well, I have a tutorial for you today sharing how ridiculously easy it is to make!  Can you tell I'm excited lol?  You can make a rosette using a variety of ribbons, but I found that organza was the easiest to manipulate and made the prettiest bloom.  For this rosette, I used Plum Organza from the Really Reasonable Ribbon Shop in the 7/8 in. width.

First, fold the corners of your ribbon inward to make an arrow shape.  Make sure this is neat and hides any stray fibers as it will be the top of your flower and visible.  Then fold this portion over so that the raw edges are completely hidden as shown below.

At the point of your folded ribbon, stitch through all layers with a matching thread.  I used a contrasting color just to illustrate clearly.  Then do a running stitch down the length of your ribbon at intervals that approximately match the width of your ribbon.

For this 7/8 in. width, I did a running stitch about 11 in. long, and then pulled the thread to gather as you see below.

...Please excuse my gross finger!  Ewww!  I had been doing a lot of mixed media and the ink just wouldn't come out...  Apologies lol!

Back to my tutorial - after you gather tightly, twist your bloom so the folds aren't directly on top of each other, and backstitch to secure on the underside.  One simple knot might come loose, so a backstitch is advised, both at the origin and here at the end.  This is how the bloom looks at this stage.

I've been heating my organza a ton lately and ending up with really pretty, natural looking curves in my floral creations.  At this stage, I carefully set my heat tool on the bloom - one must be careful not to burn the fiber.  And voilĂ , you have some natural looking curves on a pom pom rosette which shimmers spectacularly in the sun.

Here it is on a simple card project.

 Easy as pie!

Busy Little Valentine

Good Morning RRR lovers!  Tammy Louise again!  I'm both extremely happy to be sharing this project today with you all, but sad at the same time because today will be my last project as your GDT for February!  Thank you again Bonnie for allowing me to share my love of ribbons with all of your followers.
The Little Paper Doll slips inside the envelope on the front

My previous projects were more complicated than this little Valentine.   I chose this beautiful Random Hearts White Grosgrain ribbon because I knew it was going to be perfect for my little valentine. This is so close to my heart.  I'll share more of why I made this project on my blog.  She's 5 this year and we love every fingernail painting, snow man making, hot cocoa drinking moment.
The card is just as beautiful without the doll and the ribbon is a perfect embellishment
But most of all, we love getting creative with Play-Doh, Shrinky Dinks and today coloring dress up clothes for this adorable Paper Doll Valentine card with the Some Odd Girl image Kaylee's Closet.
This is the closet part of Kaylee's closet!  The inside including the little Crayon pouch

Just look at my girl go!

Simple but full of beautiful coordinating ribbons, she barely allowed me to take the photos and pulled it off the photo tent to run over to the table full of oranges to snack on while coloring!  Best project all month!

Thanks for visiting, It was a real pleasure

Big Bitty Bag Album / Journal Tutorial

Hello Friends!!
Heather here and I have the tutorial that I promised you on my last Really Reasonable Ribbon Post.
Here is another look at the Journal I did using the Big Bitty Bags.  The tutorial will show you how to create the basic journal / mini album.  I used the Scor Tape in 1/4 inch size to but my journal together.
I usedthe new Jumbo leavesJuliet Lacegreen leavespink crochet lacechampagne ribboncotton candy baker's twinethree brown buttonsaqua shimmer satin and Big bitty bags to create my journal.
So...grab yourself your favorite beverage and a snack and get comfy while you watch my tutorial here.
I also created a few Gift Card holders, some for Birthdays and a few for Christmas.
I used the following goodies from Really Reasonable Ribbon on the top one.  The pink crochet laceJuliet lacemoss green leavespink diagonal ribbon , Candi foam fix it pads (to elevate the sentiment, so I could tuck the ribbon under to tie the piece closed).
On the bottom one, I used  Champagne organzagold pom pom trim, another pink crochet lace as well as the moss green leaves and Juliet lace.  I even added a tiny button from the Latte collection and some cotton candy baker's twine.  The images on these are from Gecko Galz.
Here are the Christmas Gift Card Holders
I created a collage sheet which you can purchase in my Etsy, which will allow you to create both gift card holders and two tags.
On this holder I used the same moss leaves, Juliet lace, cotton candy baker's twine as above, but this time I tied it with the Moss green Gingham ribbon.
Here is the other gift card holder from the collage sheet. I decided to go "vertical" with this one.
On this one I used the same leaves, large pink crochet lace (most of it is hidden), cotton candy baker's twine and mocha button (love the flower shape)!
Here are the same gift card holders done another way (I did these on Sunday).  I used the Parrot green leaves and red diagonal ribbon on this one.
Another vertical one.  This one has the same as the one above, except I tied it with the Champagne organza.
And I decided since I had the time to do a tutorial on the gift card holders as well.  So today you are getting a Twofer....LOL
You can watch the Gift card holder tutorial here.
Hope you enjoy the videos and are inspired to create something fun using some of Bonnie's Bags, Ribbons, and Trims!
Thank you for visiting!!
Hugs
Heather

A Lil' Shabby Chic

Hello everyone, Cheryl here with a Shabby Chic Card I made for Really Reasonable Ribbon, using the Beautiful Lace, Seam Binding, and Buttons that Bonnie carries.

You can CLICK on any of my photo's for a CLOSER view! :)

I also added some sewing to the background layer of my card.

I LOVE the look of Shabby Chic, its soo soft and pretty! And of course my FAVORITE color is PINK :)

On my card here I used Really Reasonable Ribbon's -

For the buttons, I just ran thread through them, and hot glued them to my card. Next I used the lace as a border across the bottom of my punched border. The Pink Seam binding I used to create a bow. And lastly I added a flower to the center of my bow.

The stamps I used are SU! Celebration stamps/Vintage Verses and the Tag, doily, Oval Doily, and Dress Form are all CottageCutz Dies.

Thank you for looking and have a lovely day!
Hugs to all,
Cheryl

Sweet Liv Layout

Hey there...it's Ginny here with another layout display I created for my shop. My niece Crystal was so kind to let me use this wonderful picture of her daughter Olivia.

I choose to work with blues for this layout to balance the strong pink of her shirt.  Is there anything cuter than a little girl eating an ice cream cone with sprinkles????? Nope!!!

I gave the picture a nice painted chipboard frame...then wrapped the top and bottom in the beautiful coordinated Diamond Satin Trim in Blue Topaz. Not only does it cover what would be too much white on the frame...it adds a lovely texture as well. It was super easy to adhere with my favorite Scor-Tape. I used the Scor-Tape to attach the frame to the page ....and the super thin Scor-Tape to attach the chipboard flourishes.
I layered some "franken-flowers" with some crocheted flowers and some pretty little bedazzled script butterflies.  Are you wondering to yourself what is a franken-flower??? It's really just parts scavenged from lot's of other flowers and reassembled to give new life to otherwise unused parts. LOL

I've been all about the tags lately....I added two here to anchor this franken-flower collection. How much do you love that checkered brad???? I know...me too!!!!
Okay....that's another layout ready to hang in the shop.....there's just a few more that need to be updated. Yay : )
I hope you all enjoy a happy and productive day and find some time to be creative : ) Ginny

She Roped his Heart!

 Good Morning, everyone!
Today I am going to share a layout with you that I did of my oldest and my youngest.
My 7 year old daughter just ADORES her big brother!
She is always hugging him, kissing him, sitting in his lap...
and you would think that the 16 year old big brother would get tired of that...
NOPE!  He lets her kiss on him just as much as she wants to!
Now...Mom is a different story!  LOL

I love that these two share such an amazing bond, and I am thrilled that I caught this moment in their lives on camera!  This was actually from December and he had mistletoe hanging above her head! LOL
I creatively covered that up and turned it into a Valentine's layout.

My favorite part is the rope heart.
OH MY GOODNESS how I love that little jute rope that Bonnie is carrying now!
I just hot glued it to the layout as I fashioned the heart to my liking...then layered everything on top of it.

She has "Roped his Heart" for ever!  LOL

Hope you enjoyed this little layout...
Make sure you go grab your own mini ropes!
Have a Fantabulous Weekend!

RRR tutorial

Are you getting Spring fever?   I am hearing birds chirping again and we think our Mama bird has come back to set up house in our (her) birdhouse.   I have been doing a bit of spring cleaning (getting a month head start).  Bringing out some birdies and nests I have had tucked away.  It is so much fun to bring something out and see it again.   Tweaking a bit of dĂ©cor here and there.   Ahhh love this time of year....the promise of new.
I popped in to share an itty bitty tutorial for RRR, one which some of you know.  The process of tea staining ribbons and laces.  I love to do it every now and again.  It softens things and it gives it history.   I also do seam binding sometimes and decided to pop a bit of the   baby pink seam binding  in for fun.  It came out a yummy soft peachy pink.   The crochet lace I tried is the Juliet lace and it picked up the tea really well and it smells wonderful.  I generally use 4 packets and boil the water like I am making tea and pop them in to steep.   As you can see it gets pretty dark.  I leave everything in there for several hours and than take it out and dry it on a tea towel.
As you can see I am starting my Mother's day cards....the first is one made for a customer.  That is her Mama and her as a baby and I simply adore their picture.  I love how the tea staining softens everything and gives it authenticity, especially with lovely old pictures.  The other card I used a Crafty Secrets stamp set.  It is know secret I love silhouettes.  I have a small wall area with a grouping of them.  So fun to use on cards. As always I Hope you enjoy!  hugs, cherry

Lace Rosette Tutorial

Today I want to share a quick and easy rosette design using the 1.5" Ivory Crochet Lace, one of my favorites!

Start with a length of lace, approximately 12 inches long. Add a length of 1/8" Scor-Tape to one edge.
Begin pleating your rosette on top of itself, using the Scor-Tape to adhere.
Continue pleating all the way around until you have a complete circle of lace.
Cut your lace and fold the edge under, adhering again with Scor-Tape.
I added a little crocheted flower and pearl for my center.
And here is the finished project! I hope you will give it a try!
More information about my layout can be found on my blog. Thanks for stopping by today!

Clean and Modern?

Hello, friends!  Vivian here to share with you a rather clean and modern project - these adjectives haven't really applied to the papercrafting that I've been doing lately.  But it's important to work those crafty muscles every now and then with movements that don't come naturally, don't you think?

For this card, I used several papers and embellishments that came in my January Scraps of Darkness kit.

With its clean lines and bold patterns, this Pink Paislee collection definitely asks to be used in a modern way.  I decided to use some of the fun ephemera included in the kit to create a congratulatory Sizzix Pop 'N Cut card that would be appropriate to give to a man or a woman.

Using Solid Gray Baker's Twine from the Really Reasonable Ribbon shop, I simply wrapped the interior piece and knotted on a cute tag from the kit.  I also used the same twine to create some funky stamens for my flower.

Here's a view of the easy dimension you can achieve using these Pop 'N Cuts dies.

Thanks for visiting with me here today.  See you again really soon!
